¿POR QUÉ PÚRPURA?
Siempre hemos existido las mujeres emprendedoras. ¿Sabes de dónde nace el color púrpura que identificamos, entre otras cosas, con la lucha feminista? Todo comienza en 1908 en Nueva York. Allí, unas trabajadoras de la Cotton New York se enfrentaban cada día a unas pésimas condiciones laborales, por lo que decidieron recurrir a una huelga. Sabían que defender sus derechos traería graves consecuencias y así fue. El dueño de la fábrica textil tomó medidas drásticas: prendió fuego al edificio con las mujeres encerradas en su interior. En el incendio murieron 129 trabajadoras. Pero de aquel homicidio solo quedó un color, el púrpura. Se dice que este fue el pigmento del humo que desprendían las chimeneas de la fábrica. Tan púrpura como las telas que las mujeres trataban en el momento del incendio. Tan púrpura como las mareas que visten las calles de las principales ciudades del mundo cada 8 de marzo.

Por ellas, por ti y por mí nace Púrpura
Con esta idea, nacida para un proyecto universitario, pretendo mostrar el trabajo de mujeres emprendedoras, tanto de aquellas que no pudieron dar voz a sus trabajos innovadores como a las que hoy inician su camino como jefas de sus propios negocios, jefas de sus propias vidas.
Asimismo, se trata de dar la oportunidad a todas aquellas mujeres que lo deseen, de mostrar sus habilidades como redactoras o ilustradoras, entre otras muchas tareas que necesitaremos llevar a cabo para ver crecer esto JUNTAS.
Es por ello que irás viendo contenido de diferentes temáticas. Aquí todo es válido siempre que siga la esencia de Púrpura. Quiero que este sea un espacio donde te sientas cómoda para demostrar tu talento sin miedo al rechazo. Así que adelante, ¡empodérate y emprende!

WHY PÚRPURA?
There have always been enterprising women. Do you know the origins of the symbolic colour purple we identify with the feminist movement?
In 1908, a group of female workers in Cotton New York (NY’s shirtwaist factories) were facing dangerous and difficult conditions, so they decided to strike even though they knew this rebellious behaviour could bring unfavourable consequences. Unfortunately, that’s exactly how it happened: the owner of the factories set the building on fire while these women were still inside.
The fire killed 129 women, but this homicide left one colour: purple. It is said that it was the colour of the smoke coming out of the building’s chimneys. As purple as the colour of the clothing these women were working on at that very moment. As purple as the waves that dress up the streets of some of the most important cities in the world, every March 8th.

This idea, firstly created as a University project, intends to show the work of entrepreneur women. For the women who never got the opportunity to display their ideas nor raise their voices, as well as the women of today that are fighting to start their life path as bosses of their own business and bosses of their lives.
Púrpura is also about giving the chance to all those women whom desire to show their abilities as editors or illustrators, or any of the other many tasks that are going to be needed so that we can see this project grow TOGETHER.
This is the reason why you’ll be enjoying diverse content. Anything is worth sharing, this way Púrpura can keep its essence. I want this to be a space where you can feel comfortable to show your talent and not feel fear of failure. So, come on now! Empower yourself!
